NORTH CAROLINA -- A device using a microchip allowed a deaf North Carolina boy to hear for the first time. Grayson Clamp was born deaf. But doctors installed a sweatband-like device in a groundbreaking procedure. He heard a bird first and then heard his father's voice for the first time. Clamp used sign language to respond out of habit.
