FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas -- A traffic stop Thursday led to the arrest of two people on drug related charges.
Fayette County Sheriffs arrested 56-year-old Pedro Carillo of Donna, Texas and 37-year-old Ruben Carrillo of Welasco, Texas.
Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
According to a press release, Fayette County K-9 handler Randy Thumann stopped a pickup truck traveling east on Interstate 10 near mile marker 658 for an obscured license plate. During the course of the investigation Thumann became suspicious of the two suspects and began inspecting the vehicle.
Thumann discovered 18 kilos of heroin stored in three automotive batteries in the bed of the truck. An estimated value of the heroin is $4.2 million.
Bond was set at $1 million for both suspects.
