A West Texas mayor is accused of stealing more than $200,000 from his own town.

Investigators say in 2009 Mayor Bartolo Sanchez signed a $228,000 settlement with an oil and gas company to fix streets damaged by the company's vehicles.

But instead of using the money to fix the pavement in the town of Toyah, authorities say Sanchez put the money into a private bank account.

Sanchez is facing federal charges, and If convicted, he could spend 58 years in prison.
