BURNET, Texas -- There is a health alert for people in Burnet. The police department says 15 raccoons have tested positive for distemper.

Though humans can't contract the disease, cats and dogs can. It's not treatable, but pets can be vaccinated against it.

Symptoms are similar to rabies. If you see any animals behaving strangely, call the Burnet Animal Control Officer at 830-798-3971, the Burnet Police Department at 512-756-6404, or in the event of an aggressive animal, citizens should call 911.
