FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas -- The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says a 13-year-old girl lied about being abducted from school earlier this week.

The girl told authorities that she had been taken by a man from her Flatonia school campus on Dec. 2 between 3 and 4 p.m. She gave a description and said the man assaulted her.

On Wednesday Lieutenant David Beyer with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said the teen admitted to making up the story and went with the man knowingly.

"Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Investigator Angela Jasek with the sheriff's office has been investigating the abduction case of a 13-year-old female along with Flatonia Police Chief Mike Noah, which is now believed was not an abduction, and is currently an ongoing investigation," a statement from the sheriff's office read.

Beyer says assault claims are still being determined.
