AUSTIN -- Under Armour's first-ever "Connected Fitness" digital headquarters is coming to Austin, in the new commercial development at the revitalized Seaholm Power Plant District.
Under Armour officials said the office currently employs 120 people, and it will be hiring an additional 100 people, most of the jobs based in Austin.
The Connected Fitness program focuses on the company's digital products and powers powers various health and fitness applications, including UA Record, MapMyFitness, Endomondo and MyFitnessPal.
Under Armour officials said the new office will have fitness perks including a spin boardroom, in-office bike storage and repair stations, treadmill desks, a fitness recreation room, men and women's locker rooms with showers and a stocked kitchen full of healthy food options.
The Under Armour team will celebrate the launch of the new office with an open house from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday.
Athenahealth moved into the Seaholm redevelopment at the beginning of February. The project to transform the 113,000-square-foot space began 11 years ago. The revitalized power plant has four levels and includes modern furniture, giant white boards for brainstorming, a fully stocked kitchen and even a little disc golf. The medical software company has a staff of more than 70 now and plans to hire hundreds more in coming years.
The redevelopment in downtown includes a towering condominium, space for restaurants, a Trader Joe's, a public library and green space. It also includes a coffee shop in the power plant basement, which is open to the public.
