Texas Stars' Mascot is in Championship Form

So, why does Ringo have a championship belt? The ring-tailed cat was named the best mascot in the American Hockey League.

Four years ago, the Texas Stars won the Calder Cup. The trophy earned by the champion of the American Hockey League.

Since 2014, the Stars have experienced lean times. Last night, marked the 1st time in two season in which the Stars competed in the Calder Cup playoffs. The Dallas Stars' minor league hockey franchise which calls the HEB Center in Cedar Park home, opened a 5-game series against Ontario.

The inspiration in returning to championship form may be the Stars' mascot who squeaks a lot.

When asked if he's ever noticed the mascot named Ringo, Stars' winger, Curtis McKenzie said, "Uh, the raccoon"?

Uh oh, that's a problem. I learned a tough lesson. Ringo is easily offended whenever he's referred to as a raccoon. That's because Ringo is a ring-tailed cat.

That's because he's a ring tailed cat. But, Ringo has a championship pedigree and he has the bling to prove it, including a championship belt.

A belt the Stars themselves are not aware of including Travis Morin. "I have no idea what championship belt he has. My kids have a championship belt at home", said Morin.
