Scavenger savvy Austinites get early Christmas gift from Kendra Scott

Austinite's easily figure out Kendra Scott's digital scavenger hunt.

Lucky jewelry lovers, with a keen eye for figuring out Austin-centric clues, were given an early Christmas present from Kendra Scott.

After the news of the Austin-based jeweler's digital scavenger hunt was announced to the public Dec. 12, hundreds of fans had their eyes glued to Kendra Scott's Instagram account. They figured out that clinking glasses, ice cream, a peace sign, and a woman wearing sunglasses would lead them to Irene's Restaurant and Bar, near West Sixth Street.

"They were a little tricky. We wanted them to be easy enough to find what we were going for but not too easy. We used a lot of the graphics that are iconic to Irene's," said Kendra Scott Media and Marketing Director Megan Runser.

It was a simple task for local Austinites, who know this town inside and out. Runser said many started lining up at 2 p.m. to claim their prizes, approximately three hours before the deadline.

"The last clue with the picture of the woman, that's on the [Irene's] menu," said one lucky attendee. "So that was a giveaway."

Once inside, guests were treated to disco ball cocktails, a DJ, a photo booth, and of course, a little yellow gift box with Kendra Scott jewelry inside. Some people received dangly earrings while others opened their box and saw silver necklaces.

"I love Kendra. She's absolutely fantastic. The best person in Austin. She's a great philanthropist and we love her so much," said Misty Chase, as she waited among a string of others in a line stretching from Irene's to Frank and Angie's Pizza Restaurant.

This is the latest Christmas-inspired giveaway Kendra Scott has done in the past few weeks. Southwest flyers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport were treated to life-size boxes, filled with Kendra Scott jewelry, at the baggage claim.

"We love to surprise and delight our customers, and we want everyone to know that although we have amazing, beautiful products and great designs, we also have a real true heart and soul for giving back and making our customers happy," said Runser.
