Students from numerous Austin-area schools participated in a walk out for stricter gun control laws on Wednesday.
More than 100 students at Clint Small Middle School, located at 4801 Monterey Oaks Boulevard in southwest Austin, left during lunch Wednesday as part of a walk-out calling for stricter gun laws and in support of school safety, according to the Austin Independent School District's Public Information Office.
AISD officials said the walk out began at approximately 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Students at Dripping Springs High School also conducted a walkout in front of the flagpole on campus Wednesday, according to Dale Whitaker, Communications Director at Dripping Springs Independent School District. Whitaker said nearly 150 to 200 students participated in the walk-out, and it lasted 10 to 15 minutes.
Several students made remarks against school violence and then the students went back inside, according to Whitaker. Whitaker said there will be no discipline of the students who participated.
Leander Independent School District Chief Communications Officer Corey Ryan released this statement to KVUE regarding an act of solidarity held Wednesday for the victims of the Parkland, Florida shooting:
Leander ISD strives to meet the needs of its students in a safe, inclusive environment every day. To that end, Vista Ridge High School staff worked with a group of approximately 30 students who wanted to show solidarity with their counterparts in Parkland, Florida. These students asked to support those affected by the tragic events of last week by walking to the school’s flagpole during their advisory period. After 17 minutes of silence, the students respectfully returned to their classrooms and the school day continued without interruption.
Another 15 students walked out from Austin High School as well, an official confirmed to KVUE.
