A 23-year-old accused of murdering a man in Virginia was arrested in San Marcos Tuesday, according to the City of San Marcos.

The Henry County, Virginia Sheriff's Office reached out to San Marcos police after a man named Eric L. Adams was fatally shot Feb. 17 in Axton, Virginia. After reviewing surveillance video from the area, authorities said they identified the shooter as Jake Andrew Lewis. The sheriff's office believed that Lewis was in San Marcos.

At around 10 p.m. Feb. 20, San Marcos detectives along with a SWAT team arrested Lewis, 23, at "The Met Apartments" located at 121 Craddock Avenue. The city said he was armed with a handgun, but was arrested without incident.

Lewis faces charges in Virginia of first degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of first degree murder. He is being held in the Hays County Law Enforcement Center pending transfer to Virginia law enforcement.
