AUSTIN – Target said it will begin hiring team members to staff its first small-format store, located near the University of Texas campus.

Job fairs will be held Sept. 21 and 29 at the Target located at Research Boulevard and Ohlen Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. When the store was announced in late 2016, the Minneapolis-based company said the move is part of a plan to open stores in densely populated urban and suburban markets, and near college campuses.

“We look forward to building a talented team to join the Longhorn community on The Drag and part of the transformation of Dobie Twenty21,” said store team leader Joe Michelbook in a statement. “In November, our team of 55 team members will be ready to open the doors of Target’s new Austin UT Campus store to serve students and surrounding neighborhoods.”

Target also said in 2016 that it plans to open stores near the University of North Carolina, University of Southern California and University of Florida, among others, before December 2017.

Those looking to apply can do so on the company’s website, or apply in-person the days of the job fairs. The new Target location is expected to open Nov. 8.
