A few weeks ago, I posted about making your own shampoo. I've made it a few times since, varying it up a bit for personal preference. Since making it, I have had several requests for homemade conditioner. I wanted to say first, if you are shampooing with the most frugal method (8oz water and 1 tbs baking soda) then for conditioner, the best thing to do is an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse (1 tbs vinegar well mixed in 8oz of water). Done. Simple.
However, if you'd like to compliment the coconut milk shampoo recipe we posted a few weeks back then this might be the conditioner recipe for you. Let me say, this is not going to 'feel' like conventional conditioner however, it does actually work and it is chemical free plus extremely frugal so that's a real plus. I found the recipe on The Pistachio Project and it worked well for me.
{Ingredients}
2/3 cup of water
1 tsp melted Coconut Oil
1/2 tsp Guar Gum
Essential Oils (optional)

Directions: Mix the ingredients together, I like to use a little less oil because my hair is oily enough as it is. After the ingredients are well mixed, simply place in an empty shampoo bottle or other squeeze bottle. You can add about 10 drops of essential oil if you would like it scented. I have peppermint on hand so I added that. Now, it has two purposes, it cleans my hair and clears my stuffy nose.
