AUSTIN -- The first ever South by Southwest Eco Conference begins Tuesday in Austin.
Experts from around the nation are sharing solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the environment and economy.
Tuesday's panels include "Training the New Generation of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs," "Why We Still Need an International Climate Agreement," and "Can We Feed a Growing World Without Destroying the Planet?"
A panel will also focus on local efforts to become the Clean Energy Capital of the World. The Austin Chamber of Commerce is working with the regional clean energy industry to recruit clean energy businesses and jobs to the region and coordinate local clean energy initiatives through the Chamber’s Clean Energy Council.
The City of Austin’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2020 is the most aggressive in the nation. Since 2007, the city has worked to reduce its carbon footprint while creating jobs, boosting a new green economy, and remaining one of the most "liveable" cities in the country.
The SXSW Eco Conference continues through Thursday at the Hilton Hotel downtown.
