Austin – Organizers are gearing up for this fall's SXSW Eco, the conference devoted to innovation in environmental and sustainability programs.

Robin Chase, founder and CEO of car-sharing company Buzzcar, was announced Thursday as keynote speaker. Chase will focus on the role of business in addressing climate change.

“SXSW Eco is focused on breaking down the barriers between sectors, and equipping individuals at any position to take action. We hope to elevate business innovations that create so many of the solutions that can also work for the economy, environment and society,” explains Chris Sonnier, program manager at SXSW Eco.

SXSW Eco also announced initial programming for the show’s third-annual event, which brings together attendees at all levels to share best practices and forward-thinking initiatives. For details on the sessions examining energy, policy & activism, design, climate change, and food & agriculture, visit sxsweco.com.

SXSW Eco takes place October 7-9, 2013 at the Austin Convention Center.
