Frequently Asked Questions
- WHAT’S NEW AT AUSTIN WATER?
- Check out your next City of Austin utility bill. You’ll find charts in the left column of your statement, showing your water, wastewater and electric usage for the past 13 months. If you notice usage spikes, that could mean a leak or an inefficient appliance that’s wasting water. Learn more about existing and new water conservation rebates and incentives below at www.WaterWiseAustin.org.
- Landscape Conversion Incentive
Austin Water has launched a Landscape Conversion Incentive program to encourage homeowners to conserve water by converting thirsty turf areas to native beds and/or permeable hardscapes. Applications will be accepted twice a year; December through February for spring installations and June through August for fall installations. - Rainwater Harvesting Rebates
Austin Water has revamped its Rainwater Harvesting Rebate Program to make it easier to use. The program encourages the collection of rainwater for non-potable uses such as watering your lawn and garden. Rebate amounts are based on system capacity. - Irrigation Evaluations and Rebates
If you are an Austin Water customer (or a customer of an eligible MUD), have an underground sprinkler system and use more than 25,000 gallons per month in the summer, then you qualify for an irrigation evaluation. An irrigation specialist from Austin Water will check your system and help determine an efficient watering schedule. Many participating customers have reduced their summer water bills by 20 to 50 percent. To schedule an evaluation, visit our online scheduling page or call 974-2199. After the visit, you may be eligible for rebates on recommended system improvements. - Other Programs Include:
Free Toilet Program
WashWise Rebate (for clothes washers)
Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) Rebate
