Parks and Recreation hiring lifeguards for summer

Austin Parks and Recreation will be holding an event Wednesday afternoon to fill their ranks for the 2017 summer season.

The department’s Aquatic & Nature Based Programs Division will be holding a hiring day at 4-8 p.m. April 5 at the Aquatics Administration & Training Center. Those who are interested in working as a lifeguard, cashier, swim instructor or swim coach a chance to complete an application, interview and register for the required training.

Applicants will need to bring valid ID and a social security card with them in order to complete an application, interview and register, Parks and Recreation said. A passport, driver’s license, government-issued ID card or military ID are all acceptable forms of ID. TAP HERE for a complete list of acceptable forms of identification.

Food and drink will be provided, and applicants are free to come and go from the event as they please. “Wages are dependent upon the position, experience and age of the applicant, and starting pay begins at $13.50 an hour,” Parks and Rec said.

Applicants 15-16 years old are required to have a parent present during the interview. Applicants who are 17 years old will need parent signatures on the application paperwork.
