Two restaurants run into trouble with the health inspector in Williamson County.
Mario’s Mexican Restaurant, 207 East Street in Hutto, failed its recent Williamson County restaurant inspection with a total of 36 demerits. Among the violations: employees handling tortillas without using hand sanitizer; no soap or towels in the kitchen sink; the health inspector observed an employee using a dented can of peeled tomatoes (the employee was told immediately to discard the contents); and raw eggs held at the wrong temperature. On the required follow-up inspection, Mario’s passed with seven demerits.
Taqueria Pachangas, 101 Luther Drive in Georgetown, failed its health inspection with 37 demerits. Among the violations: a refrigerator was not working properly; an employee touching raw hamburger and then handling tortillas. Also, the person in charge asked the inspector basic questions about food temperatures and a two-year-old child was in and out of the kitchen several times. On the required follow-up, Taqueria Pachangas in Georgetown passed with eight demerits.
