Credit reports are good, but they're not the only thing that can tip you off to identity fraud. According to Consumer Reports, there are four other reports you can check every year free of charge.

First, your Lexis-Nexis file. This includes a public records search, reports on auto and homeowner claims, pre-employment background checks, even a criminal record history.

You can also check your annual statement of medical benefit to see records of your health insurance claims and medical treatment. Call or write your insurer to get a copy of the statement.

Your prescription drug history is also available. In it, all the medications you've used over the years, including dosages and prescribing doctors. Call Intelliscript at 1-877-211-4816 and Medpoint at 1-888-206-0335.

And finally, Chex Systems and Telecheck Reports have information about mishandled and overdrawn checking accounts.
