Supporters of a popular water fountain near Lady Bird Lake, gathered to show their support for fixing it as soon as possible. Dozens of adults, along with their children, waived signs around at the Liz Carpenter Fountain in Butler Park.
It was built in 2007, designed to be an interactive fountain. But because of its popularity and new regulations, it's been shut down.
Tom Nelson works with the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department.
"We're looking at solutions, trying to get it up and running again. And not only provide a system that's mechanically sound and will operate continuously, but also a system that is safe as well," Nelson said.
Park officials say there's no timeline set for when the fountain will be turned back on, but they want it back on as soon as possible.
