LLANO, Texas -- A baby bald eagle has made its first attempt to fly. The eaglet is one of two that were born off of Highway 29, east of Llano in January.
According to Dale Schmidt with Texas Parks and Wildlife, the eaglet attempted to leave its nest Thursday around 6:30 p.m.
In an email to KVUE News, viewer Kelley Markert said the eaglet fell onto a brush pile, not far from the nest.
The eaglet was unharmed, and later made it back on to a tree branch, which got it out of any danger.
Friday morning, Schmidt says the eaglet was seen higher in the tree, and was later seen successfully flying away from the tree and returning. The expectation is that the second eaglet will follow soon.
