KYLE, Texas -- A mother in Kyle has been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury/family violence after her son was treated for a subdural hemorrhage.
Emily Harrington, 38, was arrested Thursday after an investigation by Hays Co. Sheriff's detectives determined the injuries sustained by Harrington's 19-month-old son were not an accident.
According to a press release from the Hays Co. Sheriff's Office, the sheriff's office received a 911 call around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 in which the caller reported that her son was having a seizure and was unconscious.
EMS alerted detectives to the situation because the child appeared to be showing symptoms of a traumatic head injury.
The child was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center and rushed into emergency surgery for a subdural hemorrhage. Harrington's son has been released from the hospital, though it is unclear how the injury may affect him in the future.
Harrington is in the Hays County Jail with bond set at $275,000. Her son is being monitored by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
