HAYS COUNTY, Texas -- A student at a Hays County high school is under arrest after authorities say he made death threats toward students and teachers.
Lt. Dennis Gutierrez with the Hays County Sheriff's Office says school resource officers at Hays High School in Buda were told Wednesday morning about the threats. They learned that the student also told classmates that he was going to set off bombs inside the school.
The Hays County Sheriff's Office began an investigation and interviewed several students. The suspect was then questioned. Investigators say he admitted making threats and told them he was in the "initial" planning stages of setting bombs off in the school.
The suspect was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor. He is now being held in the Hays County Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities say they commend the students who came forward and told them about the suspect's threats.
The student's name is not being released because he is a juvenile.
