Four people from central Texas die in an accident in east Texas. 35-year Todd Szymankiewicz, his 5 year old son, 3 year old daughter, as well as 14-year-old Dakota Klein of Pflugerville, were killed when the van they were in collided with an 18-wheeler on Texas highway 103 near Lufkin.
Szymankiewicz's wife, who is now home, was severely injured along with Klein's mother. Police say Dakota Klein's mother was driving the van and attempting to make a u-turn when it was struck by the 18-wheeler. Everyone in the van was wearing a seat-belt.
A family friend tells KVUE News that a bank account is being arranged to help with funeral expenses. Beginning Monday donations can be made to the Szymankiewicz Memorial Fund at any Austin Federal Credit Union.
