Campaign to boost local graduation rates announced

A new campaign for middle schools is being announced Tuesday. Middle School Matters is aimed at boosting graduation rates.

United Way Capital Area is sponsoring the initative and funding 16 non-profits who will administer the program.

The organizations plan to offer new mentoring, tutoring, behavioral health, parent education, and quality after school programs to students at participating schools.

The schools include: Mendez and Webb middle schools and Decker Middle School in the Manor School District.
