Boy Scouts parade to close streets in downtown Austin Saturday

AUSTIN -- Some roads will be closed in downtown Austin Saturday for a Boy Scouts parade.

The Boys Scouts of America Parade will take place from 9 a.m. to noon along Congress Avenue.

The City of Austin says roads will be closed along the parade route, from Cesar Chavez Street to the south entrance of the State Capitol. Streets that intersect Congress Avenue between Brazos and Colorado Streets will also be closed.

The staging area for the parade will be along the Congress Avenue Bridge between Barton Springs Road and Cesar Chavez. That area will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Some alternate routes you can take:

  • North and south Interstate 35
  • Red River Street
  • Lavaca Street
  • Guadalupe Street
  • East and west 15th Street
  • East and west Riverside Drive
