AUSTIN -- The Austin Police Department is encouraging the public to continue to come forward with tips in the homicide case of Esmeralda Barrera.
Barrera, 29, was found dead at the house she rented on King Street in Central Austin around 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.
APD does not yet have a suspect identified or in custody. However, they say the tips they have received thus far are all potential "leads to identifying the person who took Esmeralda away from her family and the people who loved her."
APD is asking anyone who had contact with Esmeralda on New Year’s Eve or during the early morning hours on Jan. 1. to contact the homicide tip line at (512) 477-3588. They want to interview anyone who may have had contact with Esmeralda during this time period.
