Austin police detectives have issued an arrest warrant for the last of four teenagers believed to be involved in 20 to 40 home burglaries in the same northwest Austin neighborhood this Summer.
18 year old Terrence Lamar Chesney is charged with Burglary of a Habitation, a 2nd degree Felony. In September Austin police arrested three of Chesney's acquaintances, Cordarel Netter, Edward Segura and Julian Martin.
It's believed the four teenagers met each other during their stay at Lifeworks, a south Austin shelter which provides services and help for troubled teens.
Austin police detective Jeff Gabler said between July and September the four teenagers broke into homes specifically in the Milwood neighborhood, that's in northwest Austin just south of Parmer Lane and west of Mopac.
"Their calling card is they seemed to make entry through the back yard by throwing a brick or a rock or use something from the home to break a window", said Detective Gabler.
The teens are accused of stealing flat screen televisions, laptop computers, jewelry and other valuables some of which they took to pawn shops, other items police say they sold on the street.
One of the stolen items taken to a pawn shop led police to the first suspect, Cordarel Netter. Later fingerprints led police to Chesney who as of Monday night was not in police custody.
"We're glad that they got caught and hopefully it won't continue in the neighborhood.", said Kynna Sullivan, a Milwood resident.
If convicted the young men are facing two to 20 years in prison.
