Everyday Entertaining
Feed the football crowd with Tex-Mex Dip
09:25 AM CDT on Thursday, October 2, 2008
Football season has started, along with game-watching parties and an array of snacks.
Today's snacks are substantial enough to make a meal and easy enough to make that the hostess can relax and watch the game.
Tyson makes a variety of chicken wings, all delicious. I prefer the Tequila Lime or plain variety, and I make the sauce or a selection of sauces.
You can buy the frozen wings at Sam's Club, Costco and many supermarkets. They can be heated in the oven without thawing.
A variety of frozen pizzas also is available. Some need enhancements such as extra cheese, meats or a fresh garnish.
I used the California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken pizza, adding frozen or canned corn kernels, fresh pico de gallo and cooked chicken.
Today's dip recipe has been simplified from the original version and can be made a day in advance. Buy fresh pico de gallo or the Del Monte brand and reserve some to top the pizza.
