If you're hoping to travel this summer on a budget, you might want to avoid Honolulu, but head toward Las Vegas instead.
Travel website TripAdvisor has released a list of the most and least expensive cities to visit in the United States this summer.
The TripIndex Cities 2013 is based on rates if a couple had a one night stay in a four-star hotel, a two-course dinner with a bottle of wine and cocktails, plus taxi transportation between June 1 and Aug. 31.
Honolulu was the most expensive city on the list with the night costing $504.94. Other expensive cities on the list were New York City, Boston, San Francisco and Chicago.
Las Vegas was the most affordable city at $272.94. It was followed by Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Portland, Oregon.
“With travelers’ sights set on summer escapes, TripIndex has identified world class cities where visitors can get the biggest bang for their buck,” said Director of Communications at TripAdvisor Brooke Ferencsik. “Although hotel prices are on the rise this summer, travelers looking for deals can find exceptional value for accommodations in popular American destinations such as Las Vegas, Miami and New Orleans.”
