AUSTIN - The Red Hot Chili Pepper's aren't scheduled to perform at the Austin City Limits Music Festival until Saturday night, but one of the peppers already has one show under his belt.
According to a KVUE viewer Joshua Hairell, Chad Smith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' longtime drummer, played with the Austin band The Pistolators Friday night.
Hairell said he played a couple songs with the band at Kick Butt Coffee in North Austin.
While Hairell isn't sure why Smith performed with The Pistolators, he didn't mind the surprise, calling him an "excellent drummer".
"[The] crowd loved him," he said.
It just goes to show, you never know who you'll run into or see performing when ACL Fest takes over the capital city.
