NEW YORK (AP) — CBS News correspondent John Miller has bounced between journalism and law enforcement for many years. Now he's jumping back to work for incoming New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton.

CBS confirmed Miller's exit on Thursday. He worked under Bratton when the incoming commissioner led the New York and Los Angeles police departments in the past.

Miller's recent "60 Minutes" story on the National Security Agency received criticism for being one-sided in favor of the government organization. Miller and his boss, CBS News President David Rhodes, have defended the story and Rhodes says Thursday the story had nothing to do with Miller's exit.
