HOUSTON – An actor who starred in the movie "The Sandlot" was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer at Geroge Bush Intercontinental Airport over the weekend.
Thomas Guiry, 32, is best known for his role as Smalls in the 1993 film about baseball.
Police say they were called to Terminal B Saturday when a United Airlines employee complained that Guiry was too drunk to fly.
The officer offered to take Guiry to a sobering center but said the actor became verbally abusive and headbutted him.
Guiry was arrested and charged with assault.
Guiry told the officer he was a movie star when he was taken into custody, but it didn’t matter.
He spent the night in jail before posting a $5,000 bond on Sunday.
Guiry also appeared in "Black Hawk Down," "Mystic River" and several other movies and TV shows.
