This week marked the official start to summer. The next few months in Austin bring a host of fun activities with them, including free live music. The following are opportunities ears of any age or genre preference can enjoy.
One of the season’s most-anticipated events is radio station KGSR’s 22nd season of Blues on the Green – an annual concert series held every other Wednesday evening in Zilker Park. These concerts kicked off May 30 with Charlie Mars and run through August 8. Click here for more information.
KGSR is also hosting another popular annual event – Unplugged at the Grove. Every Thursday for 24 weeks, music (and food) lovers can get free entertainment at the Shady Grove restaurant on Barton Springs Road. The music starts at 8 p.m. Click here for more information.

The hills are alive with the sound of free music this summer in Zilker Park. For those wanting to enjoy the outdoors along with music, you'll be happy to know the 54th Annual Zilker Summer Musical pick is "The Sound of Music." Performances will run from July 6 through Aug. 11. Click here for more information.
Families and friends can enjoy the outdoors and expand their minds while at the Bob Bullock Museum’s Music Under the Star concert series. Every Friday in July, guests can bring blankets for concerts by local artists under the museum’s 35-foot-tall bronze Lone Star. In addition, the museum will stay open late from 6-9 p.m., and admission is free. Click here for more information.
The Austin Symphony also provides a family-friendly atmosphere for those seeking free fun. On Sunday evenings from June 3 to Aug. 26, you can stroll the grounds of the Long Center for the Performing Arts as ensemblesl perform everything from jazz and light classical, to pops selections and film scores.
