AUSTIN -- Music legend Sir Paul McCartney has announced his first-ever concert date in Austin.

His "Out There" tour will land at the Frank Erwin Center Wednesday, May 22. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at livenation.com and TexasBoxOffice.com.

The Erwin Center is calling it "one of the most significant concert events ever held in Austin."

American Express cardmembers can buy tickets beginning Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. Ninety percent of the tickets for McCartney's show in Boston were sold during the AmEX pre-sale.

The Austin date is his only stop in Texas.

Liz Land with the Frank Erwin Center tells KVUE it took years of work to make McCartney's show happen. "Several years, just planting the bug in his ear."

Paul McCartney's "Out There" tour will feature hours of material from his entire career -- as a solo artist, member of Wings and the Beatles.
