The Austin Fan Fest continues on the streets of downtown Austin including 11 blocks of free activities. There will be five live music stages, racing exhibits and food vendors mainly located in the warehouse district.
RunTex is also organizing a festival on race weekend called Experience Austin. It will feature vendors, live music and food with a Pecan Street Festival feel.
In all, 28 blocks in downtown could be shut down.
"We are vibrant, and people want to come here. It will have tens of millions of dollars of economic impact in our city," said Fred Schmidt of specialty store Wild About Music on 6th Street. He is preparing for big crowds by stocking up on music and race apparel.
"Music and fast cars just go to together," said Schmidt.
