Longtime radio host Larry Monroe dies at 71

AUSTIN -- Larry Monroe, a longtime voice on Austin radio, has passed away.

Monroe worked for nearly 30 years as a host and DJ at KUT Radio. He's best known for his programs "Phil Music," "Blue Monday," "Texas Radio," and "Segway City."

After leaving KUT in 2010, Monroe became a host for KDRP in Dripping Springs.

According to his family Monroe died early Friday morning from respiratory complications. He was 71 years old.

Monroe will be buried in Hartford City, Indiana. A public memorial will be held in Austin soon, according to KDRP.
