AUSTIN -- We're less than two months away from the South By Southwest Festival, and the lineup for the 115 features being screened has been released. For nine days patrons can see 76 world premieres and 68 films from first-time filmmakers.
And this year this portion of the festival isn't just about film.
SXSW will also have an "Episodic" screening category. This portion features innovative work in television, and was inspired by the premieres of HBO's "Girls" and A&E's "Bates Motel" in years past.
The festival has also invited keynotes from Lena Dunham, Jason Blum and more.
“We are psyched to present this year’s slate - truly diverse in size, shape, and emotional tone and reflective of our ever-eclectic tastes. As always, we strive for the delicate balance of launching new voices, while providing equally combustible entertainment from red carpet moments and highly anticipated titles to soon-to-be-new-addictions from the small screen,” Head of SXSW Film Janet Pierson said. “Getting to share this work with our adventurous, intelligent, film-loving audience is where the magic happens and the films truly come alive. Is it March yet?”
Good news! There are other ways to see films without a badge:
- You can purchase an $80 festival wristband at Waterloo Records, The Marchesa and several Alamo Drafthouse locations. If you have a wristband, you will be allowed into a film screening after badge holders. Wristbands go on sale Feb. 12.
- You can buy $10 RUSH TIX for each film. Purchase your ticket 15 minutes before shot time and you'll be given any leftover seats.
- You can purchase advanced tickets for some films at Paramount and Stateside here.
SXSW will be held March 7-15. For more information on SXSW go here.
