This is the time of year when I really like to start cleaning out my closets and getting rid of stuff. There’s something therapeutic about it.
It’s fun to either donate the items you don’t need or try to make some money on the stuff you no longer use. It also makes me feel less guilty if I want to add some new things to freshen up my home or wardrobe. That's where thrift stores and consignment shops help.
One of my favorite magazines, Shop Smart mentioned two web sites that might help:
- www.narts.org – this site lets you find consignment shops near your home. Just go here type in your state and zip code and get a complete list.
- www.ShopHousingWorks.com – this is a web site developed by a New York charity and lots of New Yorkers donate their items to raise money for people living with HIV and AIDS. You’ll find items you won’t find at most thrift stores.
