This recall is no itsy bitsy problem. Mazda is recalling 52,000 2009 and 2010 Mazda6 cars manufactured from April 8, 2008 through February 8, 2010 because a certain spider may weave a web and cause a fuel line leak.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Mazda has received reports of the yellow sac spider weaving webs that cause a restriction in the canister vent line. That can cause stress on the fuel tank and eventually result in a crack even a fire.
Dealers will inspect and clean up the canister vent line and install a spring to keep this spider out. Owners will begin receiving notifications March 25th. You can call 1-800-222-5500 if you have questions.
