We all know protecting your children is harder than ever especially since they spend so much time on line and on social networking sites.

It’s impossible to monitor everything your child does or says on line, but there are ways to get them to think before they interact either on line or on their cell phone.

The FTC has put together some terrific guides to keep your kids safe.

Talking to your kids is the first step. You want to make sure they know what they should and shouldn’t be posting on line. Go here for some guidelines on how to have that conversation as well as what to say.

You’ll find some helpful videos that you can share, including how to set up a second stop before they post anything as a way to get them to think before they post.

This link will encourage your child to ask certain questions before they post or enter any site on line.

You can go here to get your kids to play some games that allow them to think about what they’ve learned or to test their knowledge.

If you like having some tips you can print, here’s a brochure with some of the same helpful advice.
