This week is always a big one for my mom—with Mother's Day and her birthday falling within days of each other. I always feel she gets short changed. I mean, here's a woman who raised five kids, worked as a teacher, helped us with homework and still managed to get dinner on the table and run us to our various activities. It makes me tired just thinking about it.

Many of my friends and sisters are just as busy trying to do it all.

So how much are moms really worth?

Each year salary.com estimates how much mom's are worth. This year it found stay-at-home moms would earn $117,856 a year, working moms would earn $71,860 on top of their salaries.

That’s down about 4 to 6 percent compared to last year’s calculations. Yet mom’s workloads have actually grown.

According to salary.com, “The working mom puts in more than 96 hours a week when you combine her full-time job, mom hours and mom overtime – an increase of four hours from last year. This means mom is spending more time preparing meals, making sure the home stays in good repair, and shuttling the family to activities. This year, the stay-at-home mom’s overtime averaged 50 hours in a 99-hour ‘work week’.”

Hope your mom and all the other moms out there realize how invaluable they are to their families. Happy Mother's Day!
