A site called Leverage Card.com, which started a year ago, allows you to earn interest on your gift cards.
I know I was skeptical when I first heard about this too. It's not a lot of money-- we’re talking 1-percent or 3.65-percent if you buy the gift card through Leverage Card.com. However it's a unique idea.
A couple things you should know
You must register on the company website. You provide your name, birthday, zip code and e-mail address. Then you register your gift card. You have to give up the numbers on your gift card in order to register because they need to verify it. I was concerned about this. So I asked and was told the company has several layers of security to keep those numbers protected.
Each time you log into the website you can check the balance on your gift card and you will see advertisements from companies interested in getting you to use your gift card. For example if a company has an excess of camping equipment and they know you have a gift card, Leverage Card.com will make sure you see the offer for 20-percent off that camping equipment. You're essentially agreeing to let the site plant cookies to track your ventures on the internet that helps them determine your interests. It's the same kinds of things all websites do when you register.
You can also track all of your loyalty programs here.
This site is fairly new but if you've used it--so send me an e-mail.
