Don't you just hate those automatic message systems that make you wait forever to get to a real person? More of them now make you talk your way to a person.
A few years ago a viewer e-mailed me this great article that is full of tips. There are suggestions on what to say in order to find a real human being and which numbers to press. They even give suggestions on what to say.
Here are a few of my favorite suggestions:
- No Phone Trees.com not only lets you search for numbers based on different categories, you can also search an alphabetical listing of companies.
- Hard to find 800-numbers is another great place to find customer service numbers for all kinds of companies.
- Search Whois.net. This is a great tool if you're looking for someone in charge of a particular website but can't find contact information.
- Find corporate officers by searching EDGAR. This site is run by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It's also a great place to find information on all kinds of companies, but it is limited to having information on companies that raise more than $1 million.
