The Consumer Product Safety Commission is re-issuing a recall for dehumidifiers because of four more house fires one with significant damage.
The original recall was issued last December and involves 98,000 LG Portable Dehumidifiers with “Goldstar” or “Comfort-Aire” printed on the front. The power connector for the dehumidifier’s compressor can short circuit causing a fire. They were sold between January 2007 and June 2008 at Home Depot, Walmart and Heat Controller Inc.
The model and serial numbers are printed inside the dehumidifiers and can be viewed after the water bucket is removed. Here’s what you should look for:
- Goldstar, model number GHD30Y7. These were sold at Home Depot. Serial Number Range: 611TAxx00001-08400, 611TAxx08401-40600, 612TAxx00001-20400, 612TAxx21001-30600.
