Food savings
Through Thursday, May 31st you can save 10% at certain Austin restaurants if you ride your bike to eat. It's part of bike to eat week.
Free concerts
KGSR's popular FREE summer concert series, Blues on the Green, is back May 30, 2012, and the lineup is great. This is the 22nd year for the every other Wednesday concerts. Go to Zilker Park and enjoy a free show with friends. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Show begins at 7:30pm.
The lineup for the 2012 season is:
- May 30: Charlie Mars (with Max Gomez opening)
- June 13: Rhett Miller (with the Wheeler Brothers opening)
- June 27: Ben Kweller (with Amy Cook opening)
- July 11: BoDeans (with Quiet Company opening)
- July 25: Marcia Ball (with Nakia opening)

Free movies
Austin's Deep Eddy Pool, is now open for the season. The spring fed pool is not free, but you can swim for between $1 and $3 per person. Plus, in the coming months, you may also enjoy movie nights at the pool, which are free with the cost of admission. All movies begin at dusk. This Saturday, June 2nd you can watch Ghostbusters (PG), next Saturday, June 9th it’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (G). The Austin Parks Foundation hosts movie nights through the fall as part of its Movies in the Park series.This Friday, June 1st you can watch Jurassic Park (1993)(PG-13), at 8:30pm. Republic Square park is located at 422 Guadalupe Street. Dogs, picnics, and lawn chairs are welcome but alcoholic beverages, glass and styrofoam are not. If the weather gets iffy, check the web site. They’ve been known to postpone them. For more information go to AustinParks.org.
Regal Cinemas has a 9-week movie festival, Summer Movie Express, returns to three Austin-area theaters on June 5, 2012. The festival offers two G or PG rated movies each Tuesday and Wednesday morning through August 1, 2012. The movies start at 10 a.m., but be sure to arrive early, as seating is first come, first served. Admission is $1.
