On the first Saturday of May each year, participating comic book shops across the country give away select FREE comic books to anyone who comes in (while supplies last) for Free Comic Book Day. This year's event takes place on May 5, 2012.

This year the Pecan Street Festival celebrates 34 years of community in downtown Austin. The festival takes place May 5 and 6, 2012 and will feature over 600 artists, artisans, and performing artists. This FREE, family friendly event is the oldest and largest art festival in Central Texas, drawing over 300,000 per year. The festival is open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday and runs up and down 6th Street. The Pecan Street Festival has a little something for everyone. The booths will include vendors in arts and crafts, food vendors ranging from traditional to international, commercial vendors offering information about their products, and sponsor tents that help bring the festival to life. Guests can peruse furniture, art, jewelry, toys, sculptures, and more.
