McAlister’s Deli has found a sweet way to help you beat the heat. Thursday, July 29th they are giving away free 32 ounce cup of iced tea all day long. No purchase necessary. This is good at all McAlister locations. To find one near you go here.
Free heart screenings
The Heart Hospital of Austin is hoping to help teens get prepared for their upcoming fall sports. So the hospital is offering free heart screens for teens ages 14 to 18 from 8am to noon at 3810 North Lamar. Area teens will receive an echo cardiogram, or ultrasound of the heart and an electrocardiogram, or EKG. Both tests are painless and are valued at approximately $700. Results of the ultrasound and EKG are immediate. These tests have been known to catch serious heart conditions that often go undetected in athletes until students collapse on the practice field.
Students must have a signed parental waiver in order to receive the heart screening. The waiver is available at the event or can be found here.

Help a charity and save on tea and coffee
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s has partnered with HeartGift, an amazing organization that brings children from developing countries to Austin for life-saving heart surgery. Beginning this Friday, the locally owned CBTL will encourage customers to donate and help create awareness through a wrist band promotion. For the entire month of August, when customers come back in to CBTL with the wristband, they get 10% off their order.
