This week you'll find some good food deals, a way to win free Star Wars concert tickets and more. Remember if you have any deals you spot that you'd like me to share send me an e-mail.

Free sandwich

Chick-fil-a is adding a new spicy chicken sandwich to its menu next month. But it is hosting a special premiere week from May 31 through June 5.  So starting Monday, May 24th you can go to this web site and reserve a time to go to a local store to try the new sandwich FREE. You have to make an online reservation and the coupons are limited.

They’ve also set up a Facebook fan page as a reminder.

Free Burrito

Friday is National Bike to work day so Chipotle is giving away a free burrito to anyone who comes to the Chipotle at 8th and Congress downtown with a FREE burrito between the hours of 11am and 5pm. Thanks to Kat for letting me know.

Penny Doughnuts

Participating Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops are celebrating National Penny Day by offering a dozen donuts for 99 cents Saturday, May 23rd. Go here to find a location near you, but be sure to call ahead to make sure they're participating.

BOGO Shake

Through June 27th when you buy a shake you get one free at Sonic.

Endangered and rare plant scavenger hunt

This is a really cool event taking place at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Centerthis Friday, May 21. From 6 to 9 p.m. go on a rare plant scavenger hunt, learn what makes them rare and endangered, and find out about programs at the Wildflower Center to help save native Texas plants that are part of our cultural heritage. It costs $1 per person or is free to members.

Free shredding and computer donation event

The Better Business Bureau is hosting a free document shredding event Saturday, May 22nd from 9am to 1pm at Dell’s Round Rock Campus Building #8 at 2401 Greenlawn Blvd. Goodwill will also be on hand accepting donations of computers, keyboards and monitors. Each year Goodwill keeps more than a million pounds of computer equipment out of area landfills.

Free restaurant gift certificate

Drugstore.com is offering free shipping and a free $25 Restaurant.com gift certificate when you spend at least $25 up until Friday, May 21st. You place your order, then they send you an e-mail with a code to get your Restaurant.com gift certificate.

Prime Outlet savings

If you sign up to receive e-mail notices Prime Outlets often sends out special coupons. They sent out two new ones the past few days. One is a friends and family coupon good for 20 percent off Juicy Couture May 20 through May 24th. The other one is save an additional 15 to 20 percent on sale priced items that are already marked down 30 to 50 percent at Tommy Hilfiger.

Travel Deals

Royal Caribbean winds up its two day sale today, Wednesday May 19th. You can receive up to $200 on board credit and 50 percent reduced deposit on certain cruises that depart after September 1st.

Southwest Airlines is having another three day sale. You have to purchase your tickets by May 20th for travel through June 23rd. You’ll find some airfare selling for as little as $59 one way. You can tell we're getting into the busy summer travel season because most of the cheap priced Austin airfare is only for travel within Texas.

Win Star Wars concert tickets

KVUE is going to help your family experience Star Wars music live. Send in a picture of you or your child in a Star Wars costume for a chance to win four tickets to the Star Wars in Concert at the Frank Erwin Center. The concert is June 6th at 2pm or 7pm. You can read the rules here.

Best places to ask for Freebies

You’ve heard me mention before, but one of the best places to score freebies nowadays is to find your favorite products on Facebook. Many times companies will offer freebies or special offers just for their fans.

Then check out some of the suggestions one of my favorite sites, Bargainist.com posted:

  • Doctor’s Office - If a doctor hands you a prescription, ask for a free sample. Drug companies give doctors lots of freebies to hand out. You may get a month or two worth of free medicine without having to stop by the pharmacy.
  • Cosmetics Counters - Next time you’re passing through the cosmetics counters at your favorite department store, ask for some freebies. This is especially useful if there’s a product you want to try, but you’d rather get a sample before spending serious cash on it. Cosmetics companies know lots of people want to try before they buy, which is why getting freebies is fairly common here.
  • Restaurants or Ice Cream Shops - See something on the menu you’re not quite sure about? Ask if you can try it. Whole Foods will let you try anything, or as one of the guys behind the counter told me, “If you wanted to try everything, I couldn’t stop you.”
  • The Freecycle Network - Freecycle is a great place to score lots of freebies. The Freecycle Network is made up of 4,793 groups with more than seven million members around the world who simply want to keep stuff out of landfills. Simply post what you’d like for free and another member of the group may have it. Of course, it’s a good idea to give back, so make sure you hand out free stuff to others when you can.
  • Your Hotel - When you’re on vacation, ask your hotel if they have any freebies. You may get an upgrade, free food or a discount just for asking. Hotels typically aim to please, and a small freebie can be enough to make guests very happy.
