Mom’s get a free cup or cone of frozen yogurt on Mother’s Day at TCBY stores this Sunday, May 9th. This is the third year TCBY has done this. We only have one location here in Austin and that’s near campus off Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The manager tells me they are open from noon to 11pm Sunday. To find a location near you go here. And here are some other TCBY deals to keep in mind. Wednesday’s they offer 99 cent waffle cones and everyday from 5 to 6pm you can enjoy half price smoothies.

Restaurant.com is offering 70 percent off certificates through Sunday, May 9th. All you have to do is use the code MOM before you check out to get the savings. That means a $25 gift certificate which normally sells for $10 will only cost you $3. Now you really have no excuse not to give your mom or your wife a night off.
Make a donation in honor of your mother
This is more of a deal to help other women afford costly breast cancer screenings and treatments. You know how close this cause is to my heart and this is a great way to do something good in honor of your mom. It’s called MammoMomma for Mother’s Day.
You can visit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure page and make one of the following donations:
- Take the $125 Challenge and buy a mammogram for a woman
- Donate $50 for gas vouchers to 10 patients for screening appointments
- Donate any amount to help fund screening or diagnostic services in Austin’s five-county region
After you make your donation, you can download a card to send to your loved one and let them know they were honored in this special way.
More local Austin deal sites
Localiter -- This site started up here in Austin during this year’s SXSW festival. The goal was to focus on local Austin businesses. It works like Groupon in that each day they feature a different deal. They feature everything from food deals to golf lessons to theater passes plus they put together some really cute videos.
Ever Save is another one of those group coupon saving sites. It works very much like Groupon in that you have a certain amount of time to secure a deal.
Good timing on this next deal. There are two free skin cancer screenings taking place this weekend in Westlake. They happen Saturday, May 8th from 10am to 1pm and it’s for walk-ins only.
This is a really cool way to get your kids involved in America’s favorite pastime. It’s the Legends for Youth Kids Clinics presented by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. These are free clinics that take place in select cities across the country through the end of the year. The first 250 people to register at each event get in free. Click here to view the calendar. Click on the clinic you are interested in to view the details and sign up. There’s a Dallas clinic coming up in July and September and a Houston clinic in November.
