This week you’ll find some terrific sales for expectant families or anyone with children, a terrific new way to help challenge your kids with math games and books and a new lunch deal web site. Enjoy!

Couple of local family consignment sales

  • Just Between Friends -- I’ve written about the Just Between Friends consignment sales before. The Round Rock / Georgetown sale starts Thursday and ends Saturday, March 27th. If you haven’t been to one of these before it’s a huge community consignment shop with mommy and children products. You can find a sale near you here.
  • Mamma Cents -- There’s another consignment sale taking place at the Palmer Events Center this weekend. It’s called Mamma Cents. You can check out the deals you’ll find here. This sale is open to the public starting Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th you can save 50 percent on the remaining items.

Free learning tools for kids

I just heard about this site called Kidthing.com.

It’s a place for parents to share and download all kinds of really great learning tools. You’ll find everything from games to books to videos that foster creative thinking. Some of the items do cost, but you’ll find a great selection of freebies. One of the cool games I found is called Mathketball.

It pretty much teaches math using a basketball game. You’ll find various levels and keys on which ages will likely be good for the different tools to help keep your children challenged. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Lunch Deals

There’s a new web site that sends you lunch deals that’s called appropriately enough – The Lunch Deal.com.

You sign up to get a daily e-mail of restaurant deals. Click on the link in your daily email and choose the deals that you want. You only have 24 hours to purchase a deal on Monday-Thursday and 72 Hours on Friday Deals, so you have to act fast. Click on the ORDER UP button and fill in your information to purchase, your voucher is ready to be used the day after the offer ends. Your deal voucher is emailed to you within 24 hours and ready to be redeemed the day after the offer ends. It is typically good for 30-120 days.

It reminds me a lot of the Groupon deals in that these deals are for a limited time only. Yesterday I received a notice for saving $5 at Apothecary when I spend $10 or save $10 at Iron Cactus when I spend $20.

Free Music

My husband will laugh that I’ve put this on here, but you can download a bunch of popular dance music free on Amazon.com. You’ll find songs like Can’t Touch This, Ain’t no Mountain High Enough even Beat It.

Then don’t forget about the 100 albums Amazon has for just $5 during the month of March. You’ll find Keith Urban’s Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, to some new songs from Sister Hazel. You’ll even find oldies from groups like Duran Duran or Frank Sinatra.

Free Books Online

This is a pretty cool project from Children’s Books Forever. They allow you to upload about two dozen books to use in the classroom on overhead projectors or even just pull up on your computer to share with your children. There are some cute stories about dinosaurs, pigs even pirates.

Travel Deals

Southwest Airlines is having a big sale that ends Thursday, March 25th. You can save up to $200 on several different vacation packages.

And be sure to check out some of the airfare deals that are also good through this Thursday.

You’ll find airfare from Austin to Los Angeles for as little as $130 one way for travel through June 10th with blackout dates for Memorial Day weekend May 27th through June 1st and the usual no flying out on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
